Each season has its own separate set of staples (try saying that 5 times fast) and though most women are all about fall y’all, the staples that spring brings are refreshing! When shopping and stocking your wardrobe for a new season, the trends are definitely fun to shop for, but you want to make sure you have the pieces that can be mixed and matched and worn in different ways first so you don’t run out of outfit ideas. Wondering what those are? Here are the 8 spring staples you need this season!
1. White Sneakers
We can all agree it’s a happy day when the snow has melted and we don’t have to wear our heavy boots all the time, right? Pack your boots away and instead, bring out your crisp white sneakers.
White sneakers are not only comfy and versatile but they’re also great at dressing down those fancier looks too. This gives you more options to wear your dressier clothes for day time!

2. Floral Dress
Nothing rings in spring better than some oh so pretty florals. A floral dress is a huge staple because it can be worn with strappy heels for a night out, sneakers for errands on the weekend, or slides for brunch with friends.
A dress is a one-and-done outfit and makes getting dressed easy and breezy! Florals are the epitome of spring (groundbreaking, I know), but look for a floral dress with a more subdued print. Anything too bold and crazy will not be as versatile as you may hope.

3. Light jacket (anorak, denim, moto, trench, cardigan)
Spring weather is still hot and cold (way better than all cold though), so switch out those puffy jackets and faux fur coats for a light jacket.
Some great options are a denim jacket, anorak/utility jacket, moto jacket, trench coat, and/or cardigan. I’d go as far as to say that you should get all of them as they each have their separate uses, but make sure whatever you buy you can realistically see yourself wearing frequently and that it fits into your personal style.
These styles of jackets are great for layering and throwing on over anything from a floral dress to a basic tee.

4. High Waisted Straight Cropped Jeans
It may not be denim shorts weather yet, but a pair of cropped denim is just as good. Spring is the time to get away with showing some ankle and it’s perfect to do that with some cropped jeans. Not to mention, it’s nice to take a break from the skinny jeans every once in a while.
A light wash is best for the warmer weather (pack your dark blue and black jeans away for a bit). Alternatively, a pair of white jeans are also a classic spring piece as well! White jeans are so fresh and the neutral color guarantees countless outfits you can make.
While you’re at it, consider adding espadrilles to your wardrobe as they are one of the most perfect spring and summer shoes! The braided detail is beachy and laid back while the added height (though still walkable) adds that little extra oomph to your looks.

5. Lightweight Sweater
This cozy, yet breathable knit pairs well with a cute pair of denim or works just as well for layering over an easy floral dress.
Both denim and a floral dress are staples, and you can see that with the right staples, you can create plenty of complete outfits out of this sweater!

6. Straw Bag
There’s a reason you’re seeing a straw bag in almost every one of these pics! This is a neutral bag that goes with anything and adds the right amount of texture to make any outfit look more interesting.
If you only got one bag this season, this should be it! Wear it with anything from jeans to dresses to trench coats. It goes with all.
7. Kimono
Kimonos are a nice and easy way to look more put together instantly. Easy to wear, they save a lot of styling time because you can just quickly throw it on top of a basic tee or tank to add some style to your outfit.
Even if boho chic isn’t your style, don’t worry, there are plenty of kimonos out there to fit a variety of personal styles!

8. Something Gingham
Something borrowed, something blue, something gingham, something new. Yep, I’m sure that’s how that goes!
This is the perfect spring print because a glimpse of gingham brings to mind picnics and sunshine! Whether it’s a gingham dress, shorts, or blouse, it’s a happy print with a vintage feel and adds a playful touch to any outfit.
